Finding Clarity and Hope

Almond Blossom
Vincent Van Gogh

Vincent Van Gogh, the world-renowned Dutch post-impressionist artist painted Almond Blossom in 1890. Almond Blossom is one in a series painted while Van Gogh spent time in Southern France, observing flowering trees. He was inspired by the way the way the sun shone through the trees  – thereby reducing the colors and increasing the clarity by enhancing the contrast of the shapes. This period in Van Gogh’s life represents his search for serenity, and the masterpiece below is meant to express awakening and hope.
